Introduction
Right, I'm just gonna make this quite brief, due to the fact that I just want to make a simple guide for anyone planning to use Giant Rock Crabs to obtain Charms.
Why Fight Giant Rock Crabs?
Giant Rock Crabs are different to most monsters in that they drop multiple charms --- 10! Thats right, 10 charms in one drop.
Now, you may have fought normal Rock Crabs in the northern areas of Relleka. And it's also likely that you've melee'd or ranged these normal rock crabs. With Giant Rock Crabs, this is not possible. As you may have read in a monster database, RANGE AND MELEE ATTACKS ARE NEXT TO USELESS ON GIANT ROCK CRABS.
Which attack type?
To kill a Giant Rock Crab effectively and efficiently, you will need to use MAGE. The reason for this is that Giant Rock Crabs have extremely good armour against melee, much like the melee armour we wear, there is a weakness to magic attacks on their 'armour' [or shell].
The most cost effective spell to use on these Giant Rock Crabs would be Slayer Dart (1 death rune, 4 mind runes, 55 slayer, 50 magic and the slayer staff)
If you lack the slayer level to use the slayer dart, but have a decent mage level, you can use an elemental battlestaff (air/earth/fire/water) and chaos/death/blood runes.
Armour?
You should equip mage boosting armour to ensure you're not wasting runes and hitting low. Mage armour has low melee defence (Giant Rock Crabs use this type of attack) but if you know where the safe spots in the areas the Giant Rock Crabs 'live' in, you should only recieve about 30 damage on a complete trip. This means you could either take a few foods (4-5 monks/ 5-6 lobs or any other food), or just risk not having food if you dont want to take it.
Now we move on to LOCATION.
Giant Rock Crabs are found in two places.
[1]Waterbirth Island Dungeon
[2]Chaos Tunnels north of Edgeville
Waterbirth Island.
To get here you need to walk up to Relekka, or if your Player Owned House is located there, you could simply use a home teleport.
Catch a ship to Waterbirth Island and walk around the island until you reach a cave entrance. Inside the cave you will encounter Dagganoths who can multi attack you, so switch on protection prayers if you need to do so. To get past the gates into the area with Giant Rock Crabs you'll need a mate or just any other player. There are two pressure pads and when these are both stepped on, the gate will open. Now just find the safe spot (soon to be added to guide) and mage away.
Chaos Tunnels.
Now this is where you will really rake in the charms. The chaos tunnels increase the frequency monsters drop charms, which is perfect if you want to gain levels in Summoning.
To get the the room with the Giant Rock Crabs in it, leave Edgeville bank, go straight north, jump over the wilderness ditch, Keep walking north until you pass the Zamorak Mage, and now start looking on your map for a (!) find this Rift and go down it. You will be instantly in the Giant Rock Crab room. Find a safe spot (soon to be added to guide) and mage away!
Safe spot for Chaos Tunnels
Thanks for reading ;D
*This guide is not yet complete, i just threq it together in 40mins so feel free to message me on extra info i should include*
